About Gotality

FAQ

  1. What is the difference between the GOtality Cardio Fitness and GOtality Express apps?

GOtality Express allows you to easily track your calories burned and heart rate at the press of button.  In addition to the features in GOtality Express, GOtality Cardio Fitness allows you to set fitness goals, measure steps and distance travelled with the Pedometer system, view your exercise logs, and use preset or custom workouts.
  2. How do I add a new profile?

To create a new profile, tap on Profiles on the bottom bar. Then, tap on the plus sign in the upper right hand corner.
  3. How do I create a custom workout?

    1. Under your profile, choose “Workouts” from the “My Workouts” section
    2. On the next page, which should read “Workouts” at the top, you should have a number of Zones. Click on the + in the upper right hand corner.
    3. This should open up the Workout Wizard.
    4. Go ahead and name the workout (e.g. Cycling, Aerobic exercises, etc.). Choose a description and icon as well.
    5. For delayed start, this is the amount of time that will elapse to allow you to get ready before the app starts recording your heart rate. You can set this to zero if you want the app to start recording as you start cycling.
    6. For warm-up, you can set it for any amount or just set it to zero.  When you work out, there is a forward arrow on the screen if you ever need to advance to the next stage. Personally, I use the arrow if I want to end the warm-up and jump right into the exercise.
    7. For cool down, set it to any amount that you like. Set it to zero seconds if no cool down is required.
    8. The interval is the section where you will be riding. Feel free to name it and choose an icon.
    9. For the goal, select “Open.” Any zone with “Open” will never end. You will need to tap on the next interval button during workout. This is ideal since you might be riding for different lengths, exercising with different programs, etc. You can also create multiple intervals if you wish.
    10. Select your zone and it should be set up.

Now, go to Exercise at the bottom middle of the screen. Tap on that and it should bring up the Exercise menu.

Tap on the clipboard icon in the lower left hand side of the screen (it’s to the left of the play button).

You should be able to find your custom program in the list. Select it and tap on Done.

Since this is an Open Ended program, it won’t stop until you tell it to. To move to the next interval, tap on the forward arrow and then select Next Interval.

At the end, it should save your results to your log.

  4. How do I delete a workout?

Tap on your Profile on the bottom. Select your profile, and tap on “Workouts”.  Tap the workout that you want to delete. Then, tap “Edit” in the upper right hand corner. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap “Delete Workout” to remove the workout.
  5. How do I change any of my details in my profile?

After choosing your profile, tap on the “Edit” button in the upper right hand corner. This will allow you to edit any of the values on the screen.
  6. How do I change my workout zone?

Go to your profile in under “Profiles” and scroll down to “Workouts”.  Tap on “Workouts” to go to the “Workouts” screen. To change your zone, tap one of the other Workout zones. The selected zone will turn yellow.
  7. When I change my workout, why do I only see several choices for my workout?

The available workouts are based on your workout zone. To see the other workouts, change the workout zone.  If you select all zone, it will display all workouts regardless of the zone to which you belong.
  8. How do I export exercise log data from the app?

Browse through the history to find the exercise your are interested in (this will usually be the last workout) and select the workout log, tap the email button which will generate an email containing a file attachment which you can then email to your regular PC / Mac.  The file is in the CSV format which is handled by most spreadsheet packages or it can also be opened with a regular text editor too.
